Promotional Coupons
Coupons let clients apply a discount at checkout. You can use them for launches, early-bird offers, scholarship codes, or a limited-time promotion.
Open Promotional Coupons to create and manage codes.
1. Creating a coupon
- Click New Coupon.
- Enter a Coupon Code, for example
SUMMER15. Codes are converted to uppercase. - Choose a Discount Type:
- Percentage (%): a percentage off the purchase.
- Fixed Amount: a set amount off. Fixed coupons use your organisation’s currency.
- Set the Discount Value.
- Optionally set an Expiry Date.
- Choose the Allowed Usage Targets:
- Any booking session or specific booking session types.
- Any course or specific courses.
- Optionally enable Prevent user reuse to limit each client to one successful use.
- Optionally set Maximum Uses for an overall usage cap.
- Leave Active ticked and click Save Coupon.
A cohort checkout can use a coupon that allows Any course. Coupons are not currently offered as product-specific targets for packages or individual cohorts.
2. How clients use a coupon
At checkout, a signed-in client can enter the code in the Coupon Code field and click Apply. The order summary updates with the discount before payment.
If the code is invalid, expired, inactive, already used by that client, over its usage limit, or not allowed for that item, checkout shows an error instead of applying the discount.
3. Managing coupons
The coupon list shows:
- Code
- Discount
- Usage: total uses, or uses / maximum
- Expiry
- Status: Active or Inactive
- Actions: Usages, Edit, Delete
Viewing usages
Click Usages to see each successful redemption, including the client, email, item purchased, amount paid, discount amount, and date.
Editing a coupon
You can change the expiry, targets, usage limits, and active status at any time. Once a coupon has been used, its discount type and value are locked to keep past redemptions consistent.
Deactivating a coupon
Set Active off or delete the coupon. It can no longer be used at checkout, while past usage records are retained.
4. Troubleshooting
The client says the code does not work. Check that the coupon is Active, has not expired, has not reached its maximum uses, and includes the item being purchased. If Prevent user reuse is on, the client may have already used it.
The coupon does not appear for a cohort. Choose Any course as an allowed target. Cohort checkout can use any-course coupons, not course-specific coupons.
A fixed discount is the wrong amount. Fixed coupons are stored in your organisation’s currency. Check the currency shown when editing the coupon.
A coupon was used but the usage count looks wrong. The count includes successful payments only. Failed or abandoned checkouts do not count.
