Product Payment Plans
Payment plans let clients split the cost of a package, course, or cohort into installments. You define reusable plan templates, and eligible plans appear at checkout.
Open Payment Plans to manage templates and agreements.
1. The overview
The top of the page shows:
- Total Committed: the total value of all agreements.
- Collected Revenue: payments successfully cleared.
- Pending Receivables: future scheduled installments.
- At-Risk / Overdue: agreements that are past due or defaulted.
There are two tabs:
- Plan Templates: the installment offers clients can choose at checkout.
- Active Agreements: the payment plans clients have accepted.
2. Creating a plan template
- Click New Plan Template.
- Enter a Plan Name, such as 3-Part Monthly Plan.
- Choose Allowed Products:
- Any package, any course, or any cohort.
- Or specific packages, courses, and cohorts.
- Set Total Installments from 2 to 12.
- Choose a Billing Interval: monthly, fortnightly, or weekly.
- Set the Minimum Product Price where the plan becomes available.
- Choose a Deposit Type:
- Equal Splits: the total is divided across the installments.
- Percentage Deposit: a larger first payment, with the remainder split across the schedule.
- Fixed Deposit: a set first payment, with the remainder split across the schedule.
- Optionally add a Financing Surcharge (%).
- Tick Active & Available at Checkout and click Save Plan Template.
Use the Active toggle in the template list to make a plan available or unavailable without deleting it.
Currency: Templates use your organisation’s currency. If your default currency changes, the page offers to update all templates to the new currency.
3. What clients see at checkout
If more than one template qualifies for the item, the client sees:
- Pay in Full
- Each eligible payment plan, with its schedule
Selecting a plan shows the deposit, installment amounts, and due dates. The client must agree to the recurring payment schedule before completing checkout.
Installments are charged automatically to the client’s saved card. Clients can update that card from their My Payment Plans page.
4. Managing agreements
Open the Active Agreements tab to see each client’s plan.
Columns include the client, item, installment progress, paid / total amount, status, and next due date. Statuses are:
- Active
- Past due
- Defaulted
- Completed
- Cancelled
Click View Schedule to see every installment, its due date, status, amount, and any failure reason. From there you can:
- Retry Charge for a failed installment.
- Cancel / Forgive Balance to cancel the agreement and forgive remaining unpaid installments.
Client self-service
Clients manage their plans in My Payment Plans:
- See installments paid, total paid, remaining balance, and next due date.
- Review the full payment schedule.
- Update the card on file if a payment fails.
- Return to the shop to browse other offerings.
5. Troubleshooting
A payment plan is not shown at checkout. Check that the template is Active, the item is in Allowed Products, and the price meets the Minimum Product Price.
A client’s installment failed. Open the agreement, review the failure reason, and use Retry Charge after the client updates their card. The client sees an action-required notice in My Payment Plans.
The plan total does not match the item price. A financing surcharge may be included. The client’s checkout and agreement show the final total and installment amounts.
The client wants to stop paying. Use Cancel / Forgive Balance on the agreement. This cancels the remaining schedule and forgives unpaid installments. It does not automatically revoke course or cohort access; manage access separately from the purchases dashboard or memberships roster.
